Spine Deformity

Spine deformity refers to abnormal curvature or alignment of the spine, which can develop due to congenital conditions, degenerative diseases, trauma, or neuromuscular disorders. Common types include scoliosis (sideways curvature), kyphosis (excessive forward curvature), and lordosis (excessive inward curvature). These deformities can cause pain, limited mobility, and in severe cases, affect lung and heart function. Treatment depends on the severity and may range from observation and bracing to surgical correction for structural realignment and stabilization.

Causes of Spine Deformity
  • Congenital spinal malformations present at birth
  • Degenerative spine conditions in adults
  • Neuromuscular disorders such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy
  • Post-traumatic deformities from fractures or spinal injuries
  • Osteoporosis-related vertebral compression
